Happy Old/Orthodox New Year 2013! Not everybody celebrates New Year today… But, this is still ‘the most wonderful time of the year‘,- talking about 71 Degrees Fahrenheit (+21 Celsius) in Atlanta in the middle of January :) This post, however, is about my trip to New York City in “real new year’s” eve – during last five days of December 2012.
NYC is a spectacular sight to visit in the last week of December. Christmas trees, department-store window displays and other attractions are popping up around the city. You feel Holiday season everywhere you go. So much fun and joy!
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t cooperating during this travel. I was hoping to see White Christmasy New York, but 4 of 5 days turned out windy and rainy. It was so bad that I had to cancel an editorial tour scheduled with a local sightseeing company. On the only sunny day I walked by Rockefeller Center Ice Skating Rink, Times Square, Broadway, The Fifth and Seventh (Fashion) Avenues; and visited New York Macy’s for the first time :)
This trip was the first project for my new Leica D-Lux 6 compact camera. I will post a full comparison review of the camera later. Overall, I’ve found the camera as a very convenient tool for street photography. I was satisfied with its performance. Quality-wise, it is acceptable, but it is far from DSL-R quality, especially in low-light conditions where ISO jumps over 400.

A beautiful series, Alex. My favourite is the third one with the man in the hat.
