Orange Crush is an informally-arranged spring break mainly for African-American college students. The event was once a Savannah State University sanctioned party (orange is a school color). Now it’s a word-of-mouth event, with no official promoters or organizers. Young people travel to the City of Tybee Island to celebrate the end of term, enjoy the beach and have a good time. Last year during a single-weekend Orange Crush, 13,000 cars entered the island. This year annual unofficial event is a double-weekend beach party. Unintentionally, I took my Tie-Bee-Island Spring Break during one of those weekends… I guess, that’s why the sunrise photos got a lot of orange color [wink]
