The most beautiful place I visited on my EuroTrip this year was Hallstatt- Alpine village located near the Hallstätter See (a lake) in the Salzkammergut region in Austria.

I arrived in Hallstatt by train from Salzburg. The train ride through beautiful countryside full of lakes surrounded by mountains was amazing! On arrival I took a ferry across the lake to get to Downtown Hallstatt. The views of Hallstatt from the lake are spectacular! The town is very small but has a lot of charm. It is hard to spot a driving car on the streets. So the atmosphere is very relaxing. The silence only breaks by people talking and the noise of a waterfall falling down from the mountains right in the middle of town. I have walked through the streets, walls, and roofs of the Austrian oldest village and taken a railway cabin to a mountain station (at 838 metres height) to enjoy its bird’s-eye views…

Hallstatt is known for its production of salt, dating back to prehistoric times. However, it is a SWEET place to be!
