The first sight I visited in Salzburg, Austria was a Mirabell Palace (built in 1606) and its Gardens, considered to be one of the most beautiful Baroque gardens of Europe. It is an amazing place surrounded by fountains, statues, flower beds and walkways, perfect for a peaceful break in the shade of trees. Many tourists visit the gardens b/c several scenes from the famous American musical film The Sound of Music (1965) were recorded here,- Maria and the Von Trapp children sang ‘Do-Re-Mi’ while dancing around the horse fountain and using the steps as a musical scale. Civil marriage ceremonies are held in the Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace. So, if you go there on Saturday, expect to see newlyweds taking photos all over the place.
P.S. Surprise! I am back to my “Polaroids”! Not to worry, just for this post ;)

Great pictures! And I like the black and white. Would have to visit as for some reason I am a big Sound of Music fan…
Yes, Salzburg is “must visit” place in Europe. The view from the fortress uphill is unforgettable. Thanks for stopping by, and please come back for more pics from The City of Mozart.
Lovely photos! I visited Salzburg when I was about 5, so can barely remember anything – except going on a slide inside the salt mines. That will stay with me forever!
Thanks for stopping by, Arianwen! You should revisit Salzburg. Slides are fun! But, there are, definitely, more sights to visit and things to do ;) Meanwhile, good luck with your South American adventure! Look forward to your updates.
