My Inca Trail tour guide has told me a story about a secret chamber full of gold and silver treasures discovered under one of the houses at Machu Picchu’s urban site. He said that the chamber has not been opened yet and took me there for a “photo-check-mark” (see below). I had a funny feeling standing above buried Incas treasures having a photo camera in my hands instead of a shovel…

When I got home I searched for more info and found that a tour guide was right.
A team of French, Peruvian and Spanish researchers have located a secret entrance to a chamber hidden within the depths of the mysterious site. The electromagnetic survey confirmed the presence of several underground rooms. Just behind the entrance, a staircase was also discovered. The two main paths seem to lead to specific chambers, including to the main squared one. The Molecular Frequencies Discriminator allowed the researches to highlight the presence of important archaeological material, including deposits of metal and a large quantity of gold and silver! One year ago (on May 22, 2012) the researchers officially submitted a request for authorization to the Peruvian authorities which would allow them to proceed with the opening of the burial chambers…
