On My Shelves is my new photo project via Instagram smartphone app. I have a good number of shelves and cabinets in my office. Most of them are filled with the “good time reminders”- bring-backs from my travels. There is also stuff I have collected over the years,- the collection of vintage photo cameras, autographed photos and posters, travel photo albums, books and magazines, etc.
As everybody else, I used to collect travel magnets. My fridge was covered with magnets pretty quickly :) So I started bringing home foreign pens and pencils. I love office supplies! Also I’ve been collecting travel themed coffee mugs and bar-branded beer coasters for several years. If you are about to start your mug collection, note, those babies take a lot of real estate :) The “mug sickness” ended when I cracked my favorite English Porcelain ‘Mind The Gap’ mug I brought from London. Since 2007 I try to bring home a wooden figurine or little statue from every place I travel to, building my own terracotta warriors army :)
I have promised so many times to share pictures of my bring-backs… Finally, here it is, my new project dedicated to all collectors and souvenir lovers, On My Shelves. To be continued…

I am definitely a fellow souvenir lover so thank you for this post :). I have a few of the same souvenirs that you do, like the chest of foreign coins and the Russian stacking dolls. I adore that compass by the way, how cool. My biggest obsession for souvenirs is pottery from all over the world – not that best souvenir for a backpacker but none of it has ever broken, knock on wood!
