If you are in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and looking for panoramic bird’s eye views of the city, you must go to Sugarloaf Mountain, rising 396 meters (1,299 ft) above Guanabara Bay, or visit the Christ the Redeemer Statue, located on the top of Corcovodo, the 710-meter (2,329 ft) granite peak. However, if you have a few extra bucks in a pocket, you can get a few extra meters higher to the sky. Helisight is a company that offers eight helicopter flights/tours over Rio de Janeiro. The tours last from 6 to 60 minutes. During an hour-tour you’ll fly over the entire city of Rio de Janeiro and see the Christ the Redeemer, Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, Vermelha Beach overlooking Sugarloaf, Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon, Jardim de Alah, Guanabara Bay crossing, Santa Cruz Fortress, Niterói sea beaches, MAC (Oscar Niemeyer’s project), Downtown Rio, Sambódromo (Carnival Parade grounds), Maracanã Stadium, Tijuca Mountains, Barra da Tijuca lagoons, Barra da Tijuca, Pontal, Recreio, Prainha and Grumari beaches, São Conrado Beach overlooking Gávea Rock, Niemeyer Ave and more…

Wow, love these photos… definitely a really great way to get an overview of this wonderful city. I always love to get up high when I’m somewhere new (if it’s possible!), then I really feel like I’ve seen a place. I didn’t have the bucks for a helicopter ride in Rio but I did go see the Christ and Sugar Loaf.

Wow, I felt I was up on the air with you! Such incredible shots of the gorgeous views from above. If there’s one city that has great bird eyeview to offer it’s certainly Rio. I’ll keep this heli tour in mind next time I visit Rio. Happy New Year to you, Alex!
