Thai Buddhist Art is one of the most wide ranging cultural forms of artistic expression, and the world’s richest source of Buddhist Fine Arts. One of the masterpieces of Thai Buddhist Art is the Mural wall painting in The Grand Palace located in Wat Phra Kaew or Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The Mural has 178 scenes, which illustrate the complete epic story of Ramayana sequentially, in a clockwise direction starting at the north gate of the temple, covering the entire wall. The Masterpiece emphasizes human values of honesty, faith, and devotion.

Yes, Arianwen, the Thai Art is unique. It’s two-dimensional with very fine details and painted in special warm colors, including gold.
Even after seeing so many pictures of the Grand Palace, I still can’t believe it’s so beautiful!

Wow, those are exquisite murals and you captured them amazingly well.Really great photos. I don’t remember seeing the murals when I visited the Grand Palace many many years ago. I’m going back to Bangkok next month; I’ll make sure to check them out. Thanks for the idea.
