This post was transferred from my old blog in July 2011. And only today I noticed that the photo slideshow wasn’t showing the images… I’m so sorry! Here is the re-post of the photos hidden from you all these years.
Siem Reap
The City of Siem Reap is the capital city of Siem Reap Province in northwestern Cambodia, and is the gateway to Angkor. About 15 km south of Siem Reap town, Siem Reap River meets the great Tonle Sap Lake which is the largest fresh water lake in South East Asia. The human occupations at the edges of the lake – floating villages, towering stilted houses, and fish traps. Chong Khneas is the name of one of the floating villages I visited…

Thanks, Agness! I’ve found Cambodians as the most smiling people in SE Asia. I was expecting to see such a great attitude in Thailand… but, from my experience, Cambodia is the Land of 1000 Smiles.

I loved Cambodia. It’s funny- it often seems like the people are the nicest in the places that have seen the most suffering.

Everyone on a bike! Love that shot. SO glad you used B/W too – think it makes for a much more striking piece.

Love that shot too, Maria. I was working on my photo book “The Faces of Angkor” and took the last photo mostly b/c of the masks on the faces ;)
Oh, Cambodia, I am missing you so. I suspect I will never see you again, your temples and your people. Thanks for the mention.
