Zoo Hellbrunn (Zoo Salzburg) welcomed us with a heavy rain… very heavy, but very short.
The Zoo is based on the menagerie of the Prince Archbishops of Salzburg, who kept exotic animals. That fact makes Salzburg Zoo the oldest Zoo in the World- about 300 years old. The location of Zoo is ideal for its inhabitants and visitors. It resides near Hellbrunn Palace, follows the Hellbrunner Berg Mountain and uses its rock walls as natural borders. Salzburg’s Zoo is sort of kids amusement park or playground. It is filled out with attractions for children. Zoo’s inhabitants have plenty of space for living in natural environment, so the place is not crowded with visitors at all. While in Salzburg I was surprised to see how city authorities take care of pets living in the city. For example, I have never seen a “Parking Spot For a Dog” before. Also, the stations with a drinking water for dogs made me feel very happy for them.
