Have a happy Day of the Defender of the Fatherland, Belarus!
This is the last set of photos from the ‘Around Minsk’ photo series.
In the top photo: the Trinity Hill, the oldest surviving district of Minsk. The historic neighborhood sprawls along the left bank of the Svislach River in the southeastern part of the modern city. The district takes its name from the Trinity Convent, of which little remains. This is an area of 19th-century housing, mostly restored after the ravages of World War II.

I remember reading about the Minsk Blitz from the war and there were a lot of casualties. I believe it was quite a big city back then so it must be huge now. I absolutely love how cities can go through that kind of catastrophe and rebuild into an entirely new life so many years later. This was great Memographer! :)

Thanks, Mike! Yes, you are right. It was a big city during WWII and had to rebuilt itself almost from a scratch.
Regarding casualties, every 4th Belarusian had been killed (25% of population).

Have been in Belarus and Minsk once. I wasn’t impressed about Minsk, but I traveled more outside of the city, more in country side, and I loved it. People were sweet and super friendly.
