I am sure that every traveler has taken at least one I Was Here! photo of him/herself – a Postcard-photo. Years ago, a traveler had to go to a post office to mail a postcard with a view of a visited place. In the era of digital photography, cellphone cameras, and Internet, especially with Wi-Fi available at any hotel and restaurant around the world, mailing of a “postcard” has become much easier.
During my trip to South America this year, I met many travelers and took a great number of their photos as part of my “I Was Here!” photo project. The idea behind is simple- One of the joys of being a traveler is to meet other travelers and make new friends.

I love this concept! I have a lot of photos that I can use too. Next time, maybe I’ll print out some of my “I was here” pictures and send them to friends.

Fun idea. You could certainly start a postcard service with this idea and easily become a victim of your own success Memo!

Oh, these are great!
Awesome idea! :)
I agree. Great concept.
I don’t take enough pics of the peeps I come across. I hope to use this post as a reminder to focus more on capturing my human counterparts. :-)

These are some of my favorite photos to take while traveling! I have an app on my phone that will let you turn it straight into a postcard, complete with text, address, captions, everything…and then they will send it the next day to whoever you please! Pretty cool, right?!

Hi Alex, I love this project of yours! Those travelers are so lucky to have their photos taken by you. It’s also a great memory of the lovely people you have met along the way. I enjoyed all the photos but my particular favorite is the b&w shot with the sun burst – very stunning.
