In Jodhpur I had the opportunity to provide my services (volunteering work) to a non-profit organization Sambhali Trust. The people I have met there and things they do for others have changed my life forever.

Govind and Mukta, the founders of Sambhali Trust, Renu, Corinne, Marta, Shahrzad, Marina, and other volunteers, thank you for your kindness, unselfish actions, and true loving human soul! Thank you for spreading Light of Hope! Hats off to you.

Sambhali Trust. Empowering Women

Sambhali Trust. Empowering Women

About Sambhali Trust
Jodhpur, the second largest city in Rajasthan. It rests in western India surrounded by the Thar Desert, nomadic tribes, and poverty. Widows, abandoned wives, and women of the Dalit caste and other underprivileged communities are significantly affected by impoverishment, which combined with traditional gender roles, cultural and religious beliefs, and superstition prevents these women from earning an income and becoming financially self-sufficient.

The Sambhali Trust (non-profit organization) was founded with the intent of promoting self-esteem, economic independence, and the development of a skill set and social skills as a means of combating the traditionally enforced subordination of women within Rajasthani society. Many women have little or no access to education, basic health services, or even the right to negotiate their own relationships with their husbands. These women need a voice, a support network for their hopes, dreams, and ambitions. For the girls and women of Sambhali Trust that support network comes in the form of a community, a family of individuals who share the common goal of women’s empowerment and development.

Sambhali Trust, a grass root effort, empowers women and girls through providing education and economic opportunities, helps them to gain independence, self-esteem and unity among each other. [Sambhali Trust]
